American Forces Launch Attack on Islamic State Militants, Kill ISIS Officials

The U.S. Military conducted a successful helicopter raid that killed two ISIS officials in eastern Syria.

U.S. Central Command reported the news and claimed there were no civilian casualties during the operation.

CENTCOM stated that one of the IS leaders killed during the operation was involved in plotting attacks in eastern Syria.

“ISIS continues to represent a threat to the security and stability of the region,” CENTCOM stated. “The death of these ISIS officials will disrupt the terrorist organization’s ability to further plot and carry out destabilizing attacks in the Middle East.”

Currently there are around 900 U.S. forces in Syria. They are there to help the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces fight the Islamic State.
